What Your Donations Do!

I’ve had the joy and satisfaction of supporting the Daughter’s of Life in their community service efforts. This newly formed organization has the right idea when it comes to "paying it forward". I have personally witness the enthusiasm, loving spirit and growth of this group. The dedication of these women is to be commended while they’re not looking for recognition they certainly deserve it.

I have known Denise Britt and Janice Dildy for over 15 years as a customer of Hair Fantasy, neighbor and friend. During that time have support many of their outreach efforts to help those less fortunate, from domestic violence support, to building self-esteem, to filling a need whether its food, clothing or housing. These women have been tirelessly in their efforts to make the world a better place.

The Daughter’s of Life are making a difference in our community one family at a time. We need more committed groups like this one, serving the South Hampton Roads area. I highly recommend and support the efforts of this organization and I hope you will consider giving your support as well. -Tammi

“In my time of need, I was blessed to receive help from the Daughters of Life with renewing my insurance on my vehicle. If it had not been for their help I would of lost my vehicle due to not having insurance. I am a single disabled female who lives on my own and hold a job. Times are tight and I am very grateful for DOLS for helping me keep my vehicle and my job, because without them I would have lost both. Thank you, -VM

The "Daughters of Life" came to my rescue and enabled me to find housing and to secure the deposit at a time when there was no help from anywhere. I don't know what I would've done without the help of this organization. They are doing great things in the community. Thank you Daughters of Life!  -KE

Thank you Daughters of  Life, for assisting my family during a crisis. About a year ago, I received a pay cut and found myself in a financial crisis. Within two months, I received turned off notices for my electric and water bill. I had to make a decision to pay one and not the other. I paid the electric bill, but was not able to swing the water bill. I contacted the Daughters of Life, and they agreed to pay my water bill IMMEDIATELY. This fast action prevented my water from being shut off. I am a single mother of three with a good paying job. I am happy that  the Daughters of  Life  did not have an income criterion. Thank you DOLs…you are dolls INDEED!!!! -GWD

"You made me suffer a lot,
but you will bring me
back from this deep pit
and give me new life.
You will make me truly great
and take my sorrow away.
All day long I will announce
your power to save.
I will tell how you disgraced
and disappointed those
who wanted to hurt me." Psalms 71:20-21,25 CEV

I was over sixty and living alone when I decided to move into senior housing. I was reasonably satisfied, in an excellent location and met   some nice people. But, just before my third year I received a letter from management saying they would not renew my lease.
How shocked and disappointed I was. Come to find out someone had lied on me.. but,  I could feel the Lord telling me not to fright.. but I did! Where was the money coming from? Where was I going?
I am so thankful to God for organizations like, Daughters of Life,  who reached out and touched a hand to make a difficult situation less of a burden. May the hand of God continue to work in you all and through your organization.
Now, the young man who lied on me was released from his management position about a month ago, which confirms vengeance  belongs to the Lord. I know everything is working out for good and the best is yet to come! Thank You! -VC

I am so grateful for the Daughters of Life. ..About six months ago, I found myself in a situation where my teenage son and I were going to be homeless. We had moved into a townhouse and the owner decided that we could no longer stay there. I had already paid my portion of the monthly expenses on the place I was staying and I didn't have any savings for a deposit or first month rent on a new place. To make matters worse we were only given one week to move. I did not know what to do. It was also my son's senior year of high school and it hurt my heart to know that we would be homeless during what is supposed to be one of the best times of his life. I am a very proud person and I felt like such a failure because for the first time since becoming a mother I would not be able to put a roof over my child's head. I sent an email request to Daughters of Life and within 24 hrs someone called me, asked what I needed, and how soon did I need the assistance. The very next day I was contacted with a name/phone number of a woman who was willing to open up her home to a perfect stranger. She was so nice, she even asked if I needed help getting my things over to her house. I just cried because I couldn't believe my prayers had been answered. During this whole process of asking for help, no one made me feel ashamed that I was asking. No one made me feel like a failure because of what I was going through. Shortly after being offered a place to stay through the Daughters of Life, my situation changed for the better. I was no longer in need of a place to stay. Although I didn't need to use their resources, my experience with this organization is one that I will never forget. It makes me feel good to know that there are still organizations out there that truly do what they promise to do. The Daughters of Life organization was a ray of HOPE in what seemed like a HOPELESS situation. -YSB
